Blankets for CAC Clients

How comfy is a soft, fuzzy fleece blanket! Friends of the Child Advocacy Center help provide no-sew blankets to warm a client when a physical exam is needed. It's one small comfort we can provide during a traumatic time in a young person's life that is theirs. Contact CACfriends2@gmail.com if you would like to participate in making or donating a blanket.

What did you like about the Center? “They helped me feel safe.”

Heiress' Corner

Heiress continues to work 2-3 days per week and enjoys tagging along on her DSS days. She enjoys visits from DSS staff members and brings joy to the office, especially after tough discussions about complex cases or after difficult meetings with families and children. Heiress spends at least 1 day/week at the Child Advocacy Center accompanying children during Forensic Interviews. I'm pleased, but not surprised, at her quick adjustment to her new "teammate," Meghan, in the interview room. Heiress also provided support for two child victims (and their families and the professionals involved 😜) during court hearings.

Heiress' highlight, though, was the opportunity to provide accompaniment during a foster child's visit with her biological mother.

From the Director's Desk

As summer comes to an end and a new school year begins, the CAC staff continues its vital work to support child victims of abuse. Looking back over the first six months of 2023 we and our multidisciplinary team (MDT) partners have provided comprehensive and coordinated trauma-informed services to more than 170 children and their families. It goes without saying that I am so very proud of our staff and partners for their steadfast dedication and determination, but it is the bravery and resilience of the children who come through our doors that sustain our spirits and keep us going! We are honored to deliver healing care, protection, support, and resources as we strive for a future where every child grows up safe, healthy, and free from abuse.

Stay safe and take good care,

Robin
